Tuberculosis surveillance and strategy
When I extended my methodological interests from trials to other methods of global interest in the Division of Tuberculosis Elimination, I started to think about leadership by and among statistical sciences. I can trace a through-line from my personal writings in 2011 to my earliest uses of the phrase “data science” in a visionary talk in 2014 (“A scrappy little division that cares a lot about data”).
I also chaired a 9-person, cross-branch think tank, charged to initiate discussion on cross-cutting activities to carry out the division’s mission over the next 3–5 years.
